Energía Costa Azul is the first liquefied natural gas (LNG) receipt terminal on North America’s west coast. It is located about 15 miles north of Ensenada, Baja California, Mexico.
The $975 million terminal has the capacity to process up to 1 billion cubic feet of natural gas per day.
Energía Costa Azul meets and, in some cases, exceeds all industry safety requirements. The terminal was built and operates according to the world’s strictest security regulations governing liquefied natural gas import terminals. In addition, personnel at the terminal have an emergency earthquake plan and hold periodic safety drills. Energía Costa Azul is equipped with leading-edge fire safety systems and equipment capable of managing any type of emergency event.
At Energía Costa Azul, we are committed to the community where we live and work. We invest time, talent and financial resources to help improve the quality of life for our customers, neighbors and employees by working in partnership with the organizations we support to maximize the impact of the great work they do..
At Energía Costa Azul, we believe the development of energy infrastructure can be compatible with the protection and preservation of the natural environment, if work is performed in a responsible manner.
In partnership with educational institutions, many environmental programs have been implemented, such as the relocation and replanting of more than 4,500 Ferocatus plants, the propagation of more than 24,000 seedlings, the monitoring of the grey whale and manual transplant of more than 7,000 sea urchins, sea snails and sea cucumbers. Thanks to these programs, the flora and fauna population in the area has increased in numbers and continues to flourish.
